Jonathan Archer

Young Jonathan Archer watched his father cope with the frustration of dealing with Vulcans interfere as humans worked towards development of Earth first Warp-Five engine. When Archer took command of Enterprise NX-01, he was pleased to find that StarFleet agreed with his position on launching the vessel early to return an injured Klingon back to his homeworld and set off on its mission of deep space exploration. The relationship Archer and his crew would establish with newly met alien races in their first few years in space provided the building blocks for the United Federation Of Planets.

Hoshi Sato

Hoshi Sato was forced to abandon her students at Amazon University in Brazil when the Enterprise NX-01 launch was moved up. She simply couldn't resist the lure of being the first human to speak with the Klingons in their Native language. The skilled exolinguist began the study of the language at an early age and was well versed in approximately 40 alien tongues by her second year of serving aboard the Enterprise. Sato's work was integral in the development of Universal Translators, allowing future StarFleet crews to have immediate translations of alien languages through technology carried on their person opening up a new universe of contact opportunities.
